All of the leaders are named after characters of The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. We have 4 leaders at the moment. Akela is the leader at cubs. He is assisted by Bagheera, and Shere Khan. When he is not at university Rocky helps too. We also rely on a parent rota (two parents each week). All leaders complete many training modules and once completed earn their Wood Beads. Training is ongoing and also updated. All leaders are qualified in First Aid.
AKELA (Sean) – Akela is the leader of the wolf pack in The Jungle Book. Many years ago Cubs were known as Wolf Cubs.
Sean has earnt his Wood Beads. He himself was a Scout at Pinkneys Green and says "There probably wasn't a weekend that went past when I wasn't doing something to do with Scouting". He has also acheived a Diploma in Target Shooting as an instructor and can take Cubs, Scouts and adults Target shooting. He is also qualified to do archery within the district.
BAGHEERA (Jason) – Bagheera is a sensible and solemn black panther. He rarely gets into trouble and likes to keep clean. His ferocity and cunning mean that he has respect from all of the inhabitants of the jungle.
Jason is well on his way to completing his training, and is Colin Barton's main First Aider.
ROCKY (Matt) – Rocky is a friendly rhino who was unfortunately taken out of The Jungle Book at the last minute. Matt has been at 21st Maidenhead since he was a beaver. He joined the leadership team at Colin Barton when he was an explorer doing his Duke of Edinburgh Award and never left! He studies Chemistry at the Oxford University and helps at Colin Barton when he is on holiday.
SHERE KHAN (Chris) - Shere Khan is a tiger in The Jungle Book. Chris is still undergoing training, and plays a vital part in the admin and badge records for Colin Barton Cubs. He also works hard on preperation work for activities throughout the programme.
